Dr. Stephen O. Kovacs is a board certified surgical dermatologist specializing in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and the treatment of skin cancers.

Dr. Stephen Kovacs is a dermatologic surgeon and one of the nation’s leading experts in surgical dermatology and reconstructive surgery. He specializes in Mohs micrographic surgery in the Boston area.

Dr. Kovacs is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard College and a cum laude graduate of Harvard Medical School.  Dr. Kovacs completed his internship in General Surgery at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO and a residency in Dermatology at the Washington University Barnes-Jewish Hospital where he was chief resident.  He then completed a Mohs and Dermatologic Surgery fellowship at the Laser and Skin Surgery Center of New York under Dr. Roy Geronemus, New York University School of Medicine.

Dr. Kovacs is a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and of the American Academy of Dermatology and a diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology.  He started the Skin Surgery Center of Boston to provide optimal care to those patients with skin cancer.  He has performed over 15,000 Mohs procedures for basal cell, squamous cell and melanoma skin cancers.
